The 2014 Civic offer a responsive, refined driving experience. We think the steering is perfectly light and quick, and the mild retune (and greater noise-reducing measures) given to the suspension makes it feel more settled–both in ride quality and handling in tight corners. Performance is a solid 140-horsepower, with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine, that paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) that works quite well, with a natural, even feel to acceleration. With its “open-mouth” lower bumper and black honeycomb mesh grille, the Civic’s look is chiseled on the outside, with new clear-lens cornering lamps (plus a chrome finishing bar in back and new Accord-like rear bumper design).
The Civic was put through our rigorous safety inspection, and passed with flying colors. The Summer Tires are at 11/32nds. The front brakes are 40% and the rear brakes are 80%.
